Counterfeit Toner Seized

A friend of mine recently posted on FB about an order he placed online.  It arrived damaged.  When he called customer "no" service to explain what he had ordered had arrived in pieces, he was told that they don’t deal with orders placed on the internet.  WHAT?  He was told to reorder it and would get a credit in a couple of days.  Is this seriously what has come of ordering online?

This just reminds me to know who you are ordering from and what their policy is for product damaged in shipping and returns.

So why do I bring this up?  I recently read a great article and on top of my friends story,  I thought how many consumers just go to the internet to find the lowest price.  Well buyer beware especially when you are looking for toner cartridges.  As the excerpts below from the article I read suggest, there are counterfeit cartridges hitting the market, even with measures being taken to seize counterfeit product.  These cartridges could damage your machine.  They may not give you the page yield that a non counterfeit or quality remanufactured cartridge will give you.

Remanufactured toner has come a LONG way in the past 10 years.  But you still have to look for quality.  This means it may not be the rock bottom lowest price.  At Allegro Business Products we have done our research on remanufactured toner and our toner is very high quality.  Less than a 1% in defective cartridges.

"Continuing efforts to protect customers from counterfeit consumables and products, Xerox recently conducted raids in China and Dubai and introduced a new program to help detect imitations.

The raids resulted in the seizure of more than 55,000 boxes of counterfeit consumables and parts for numerous Xerox products – merchandise slated for distribution in the United States, Germany, Netherlands, Turkey, Russia, Brazil, and South America.

According to The Imaging Supplies Coalition, the estimated impact of counterfeiting in the imaging supplies industry is more than $3 billion annually worldwide. As a member of the Coalition, Xerox works with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to combat illegal activities in this industry." – Recharger Magazine
