|PROBLEM: An ongoing frustration of a local golf tournament was that their budget didn’t allow for quality giveaways for the golfers, and attendance in recent years was declining. Among several suggestions to remedy the challenge, the distributor came up with a dynamic idea for their golfer’s giveaway.
SOLUTION: Rather than draining the budget, a Golf Towel could become a fundraiser for the association. How? By offering a new level of sponsorship which included both a hole sponsorship and a towel sponsorship. The towel could have the logos of the sponsors printed on it. To do this, the distributor had to find the right golf towel. Traditional cotton towels were nice, but the sponsors logos would not ‘pop’, nor would they allow the logo colors to be featured. What to do?
“The Scrubber” Eureka! Featuring 4 different material combinations and 3 size options gave plenty to choose from. Numerous logos would fit onto the towel with no limitations in color, gradient or half tones. The towels were of the highest quality. Therefore they would be used, kept, and be re-used again. Finally a solution with an ROI!
The first year the client decided to go with the GP1204CL“The Scrubber”. It featured the full color edge to edge imprint on the front side and the unique textures polyethylene on the back side. It was time to impress the attendants of the tournament and increase the attendance of the event.
They decided to use a picture of the 18th hole and clubhouse as the backdrop. 5 ‘VIP’ Sponsorship’s were sold at $750 each and would be printed on the towels. This meant that a first class, commemorative golf towel could be given to the golfers AND…an additional $2750 would be raised for the event!
This program is now in its’ third year. Each year a different backdrop image is being used so each years’ towel is one-of-a-kind. They have ‘capped’ the available towel sponsors at only 5 yet raised the price to $1000 to create a demand. The past 2 years the first sponsorship’s sold were those that included the towel contribution and the tournament attendance has increased to just under 160 players and going strong.
